Sweet Seraphina

So you remember over a year ago when I tested these super cute suspender shorts by Honeydew Kisses? Well Talia is back from a little break with a new pattern that is simply GORGEOUS. Such a stunning silhouette! Meet Miss Seraphina- the newest dress/tunic pattern releasing this week by Honeydew Kisses.

For this pattern test I chose to use some Kaufman linen blends from one of my favorite Etsy Fabric Shops- Threads and Stitches. She has a gorgeous selection & always ships super fast! For the bodice and overskirt I used the Kaufman Essex Linen blend in Plum and for the collar, sash, bodice accent, and under skirt I used the Kaufman Brussels Washer Linen Blend in Natural. A large cluny lace was used to accent the bodice and skirt hem as well. I was hoping for a look that could take us into fall- and this is perfect since it is still super warm here in Georgia!

The back features buttons as well as a sash tie- pay no mind to my messy bow- it's so hard to tie a pretty bow on a wiggly four year old ; )

Let's talk pattern details:
  • Digitized pattern pieces for sizes 6 to 12 months - 12 years
  • Supply list
  • Cutting chart for rectangular cuts
  • Size chart with child's measurements
  • Yardage requirements
  • Cutting layout
  • Clear step by step tutorial with color photographs
  • Helpful sewing tips along the way too!

The pattern can be made as a tunic or dress and pairs beautifully with the Fiona Suspender shorts as well! You will not want to miss out on this one! Head on over to the Honeydew Kisses pattern shop on Craftsy to pick up your copy once it releases!

I had the opportunity to sew up an updated version of this pattern prior to release and love it even more- you can see that one HERE!

Allie Oop- possibly my new favorite Brownie Goose pattern!

It is no secret that I love Brownie Goose patterns- the vintage/classic look is one that has always been a favorite for me. I adore the way that Amy writes her instructions- it's like just sitting down to sew with a friend. And friends, let me tell you, this newest pattern is seriously going to give the Tilly some stiff competition on my cutting board.... I introduce to you the Allie Oop top:

Allie Oop is a sweet swing top with a delicate keyhole opening in front and options for either a tie front or button loop/button closure. I mean does it get any sweeter?

The shoulders feature these cute button flaps that button in the back of the top for a precious surprise in the back. And I will let you in on a little secret- most you won't HAVE to do real buttonholes. The fit is generous enough with the keyhole opening that we could easily get it on/off without functional buttons. Only a couple of testers said they HAD to do buttonholes- but no worries if you do need buttonholes the pattern will walk you through it no problem- you can even get away with one functional button so you don't have to sweat it through two of them.

I chose to use some basic fabrics for this test- a Moda Bella solid for the soft pink and a peppered brown solid for the bodice and coordinating Darby shorts. I accented with a gorgeous lace trim along the curved hemline and on the Darby tabs and my favorite brown wooden "Three Penguins" buttons.

The construction of this top is easy enough for an advanced beginner in my opinion, as Amy carefully walks you through each step from cutting & creating your bias for the armholes and ties to fully enclosing your gathers in the bodice. Making bias is always the hardest part for me... I swear I will have no fingerprints one day soon...

This sweet pattern can be made in either a top length or dress length- and the pattern includes instructions for adding/removing length from that curved hem if you need to do so. I am hoping to sew up the dress version very soon!

Fully digitized pattern pieces included for sizes 6-12 months all the way up to size 12. This top is even adorable on the older girls- especially paired with some skinny jeans for school- totally age appropriate and modest for school! I am secretly hoping for a ladies version as well...

I just adore the way this top bells out at the bottom- such a sweet sweet silhouette. Here are just a "few" more shots for inspiration... did I mention I love this top yet???

Run on over to the Brownie Goose Etsy shop to pick up your Allie Oop releasing THIS FRIDAY!
